The following portions of Bhanu Swami's affidavit sheds light on how Shanka Brita Dasa joined ISKCON.

“During my visit to Bangalore in 1975 I was staying in a hotel room on Brigade Road and there I met Om Prakash. He evinced interest in the philosophy and had shown signs of becoming a devotee. At that time there was no regular preaching center in Bangalore and all the activities in Bangalore were conducted through the Hyderabad branch of ISKCON (reg. Mumbai 1971). Therefore Om Prakash was sent to Hyderabad to be trained as a devotee. He later came to be initiated by Srila Prabhupada and came to be known as Shankha Brita Dasa, who is the 1st defendant in this suit. Shankha Brita Dasa thereafter came to Bangalore and undertook preaching activities on behalf of ISKCON (reg. Mumbai 1971) and was reporting to Hyderabad branch of ISKCON (reg. Mumbai 1971).
